Godalming's twinned town of Mayen in Germany held various events during the summer at which they sold English style cakes and crafts to benefit the local community in Godalming.

The Godalming Mayen Association were asked to recommend a deserving local cause that could benefit from the funds they raised for Christmas. The monies were donated to GOLO who awarded these (December 2017) to The Cellar Cafe in Godalming's Crown Court. The Cellar has for 38 years provided a friendly meeting place where local people with problems can meet and discuss them with other local people and The Cellar's staff and volunteer helpers

The award from Germany was presented to The Cellar to help defray the cost of their Christmas hampers which are given to needy families and individuals in the local area.

The Godalming Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), which is based in Bridge Street, provides local people with advice and support on all matters including debt, housing and health.

GOLO was delighted to be able to provide funding towards the construction of an additional interview room to increase the volume of confidential meetings that can be held in private, and especially during their busiest periods.
